When couples first reach out to me, they often begin by talking about the beach, the sunshine, or the beautiful resort they've been dreaming about.

Those things certainly matter.

But after planning destination weddings for the past fifteen years, I've learned that they're rarely the reason couples look back and say, "It was the best decision we ever made."

The real magic happens long before you walk down the aisle.

It happens over breakfast when two families who have never met begin sharing stories over fresh coffee and ocean views.

It happens during afternoons spent by the pool, where childhood friends reconnect and new friendships are formed.

It happens at welcome dinners filled with laughter, sunset catamaran cruises, spontaneous beach walks, and late-night conversations that simply wouldn't happen during a traditional one-day wedding at home.

A destination wedding creates something that is increasingly rare in today's busy world.

Time.

Uninterrupted, meaningful time with the people who matter most.

That understanding came from my own destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas back in 2011.

Standing barefoot on the beach surrounded by everyone I loved, I expected my ceremony to be the highlight of the week.

It was beautiful.

But what I treasure most all these years later aren't just the photographs or the ceremony itself.

I remember laughing with family over breakfast. Watching friends become lifelong friends. Seeing grandparents slow down and simply enjoy being together. I remember quiet conversations, sunsets, and the feeling that, for one extraordinary week, life had paused just long enough for everyone to be fully present.

That experience changed how I see destination weddings forever.

Since then, I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of couples create celebrations across Mexico and the Caribbean. While every wedding has its own style and personality, they all have one thing in common.

The moments couples remember most are rarely the ones they planned.

They're the unexpected hugs.

The speeches that leave everyone in tears.

The children dancing barefoot under the stars.

The welcome cocktails that turn strangers into family.

The grandparents who say they never imagined everyone would be together like this again.

Those are the moments that stay with you.

Choosing a destination wedding isn't simply choosing a beautiful location.

It's choosing to create space for connection.

It's giving your guests permission to step away from their routines, slow down, and experience something together that simply can't be recreated in a few hours at home.

Years from now, your photographs will remind you what your wedding looked like.

But the memories you create throughout the week will remind you how it felt.

And in my experience, that's the greatest gift a destination wedding can give.

If you're dreaming of a celebration that feels effortless, meaningful, and completely your own, I'd be honoured to help you find the place where your story begins.
